The Nature of Time
It wasn't as though she hadn't seen the statue before. Its outstretched arms mimicking a traditional Ospheros greeting. Hands to head, hands to heart, hands out to offer both heart and mind. No, it wasn't that she hadn't seen it before, its towering frame built to stand an eternal reminder of the sacrifice given by its namesake. Life given so that we could live giving. She had seen this statue before, and many times over, but not for three hundred years. Her feet carried her slowly towards the statue, now heavy with the old age that came with her Elven fifth century. A passerby held a hand out for support as she stumbled. The last time her feet walked these cobblestones they held her aloft with ease, but they returned carrying the weight of wisdom. A ray of light danced across the statue, its arms reaching out, the once-bronze sheen now dappled with color. She looked upon the face of the hero of Ospheros, one locked in time, a reminder for eternity. She reached out a hand to the statue, her fingers brushing against those forever outstretched in offering, its fingertips gleaming bronze with a thousand reciprocations.
